Self Declaration of Environmental Commitment for Marsel Display Company Ltd
Marsel Display Company Ltd design & supply display stands to go into retail outlets. We have 17
employees and operate out of an office and warehouse facility in West Yorkshire.
This is the second year that we have produced a Self Declaration of Environmental Commitment.
During the past 12 month we have:
- Progressed from a 2 star to a 3 star rating.
- Implemented a car sharing scheme.
- Increased the number of waste streams that we recycle thereby reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill.
- Developed a purchasing policy that will help to increase the volume of recycled goods purchased.
- Improved local biodiversity through the introduction of improved wildlife habitats.
We have identified and comply with all environmental legislation relevant to our business activities and
currently reduce our impact on the environment by:
- Recycling paper, computers, monitors, garden waste, stamps, scrap metal and metal cans.
- Selling and donating unwanted equipment and redundant supplies.
- Implementing a system for recycling items
- Calculating our carbon footprint.
- Working to reduce energy consumption by turning off electrical appliances when not in use, activating sleep features on equipment, insulating the building and roof spaces, putting timers on heaters and installing light and movement sensors to control lighting.
- Monitoring our car and vehicle fuel consumption through servicing and maintaining company vehicles.
- Monitoring our water usage and using water saving devices in toilets.
- Reducing paper use through double sided and multiple page printing.
- Using websites such as eBay and Freecycle for procurement & disposal.
- Supporting local charities and events through cash and in kind support.
- Encouraging staff development through training, education and voluntary work.
Although Marsel Design Company Ltd are already demonstrating a significant reduction in our environmental impacts, over the next 12 months we are also committed to:
- Further increasing the number of waste streams that we recycle.
- Increase the number of recycled items we purchase.
- Maintaining our 3 star rating and looking to obtain 4 stars in the next 12 months.
